eVOTL Takeover

Startups worldwide are building all-new electric aircraft capable of vertical takeoffs and landings, also known as eVTOL, and calling them air taxis. One such concept has gained much attention from United Airlines, which plans to launch its first commercial flying taxi service in 2025. United Airlines have partnered with start-up archer aviation which intends to put its EVTOL craft into production. Next year. United Airlines has spent $1 billion on orders for the archer midnight. The archer midnight is an all-electric aircraft capable of vertical takeoff and landings and has a range of 100 miles and a top speed of 150 mph, so how does United Airlines plan to use this new technology. United plans to use the archer midnight as a flying taxi service between Chicago O'Hare International Airport And Verde Port Chicago, an EVTOL base near the cities and a medical district. If launched in 2025, the journey between central Chicago and the airport should take approximately 10 minutes instead of over an hour by car.

Michael Leskinen, president of United Airline’s ventures, said that the news service would offer travelers a "more sustainable convenient and cost-effective mode of transport Governor of Illinois, JB Pritzker, said the initiative was "paving the way for a more sustainable future for our state, our nation, and our world" this service that United Airlines plans to launch in 2025, could be a glimpse into the future and technology, which may be able to expand and connect local communities to larger airports and cities.

Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft are new aircraft that use electric motors and batteries to take off and land vertically, without the need for a runway. Unlike traditional aircraft, which rely on jet or piston engines to generate lift and thrust, eVTOL aircraft use a combination of electric motors and rotors to lift off the ground and fly through the air.

One of the main differences between eVTOL and traditional aircraft is how they generate lift. Conventional aircraft rely on the shape of their wings to create lift, which is then used to support the aircraft’s weight and keep it aloft. eVTOL aircraft, on the other hand, employ multiple rotors that can be individually controlled to create lift and maneuver the aircraft in different directions.

Another critical difference between eVTOL and traditional aircraft is how they are powered. While conventional aircraft typically use jet or piston engines that burn fuel to generate thrust, eVTOL aircraft use electric motors and batteries to power their rotors. This makes them much quieter and more environmentally friendly than conventional aircraft, which can generate significant noise and pollution.

Overall, eVTOL aircraft represent a promising new technology that could revolutionize the way we think about transportation. By combining the convenience of vertical takeoff and landing with the efficiency and sustainability of electric power, eVTOL aircraft have the potential to provide a faster, safer, and more sustainable way to travel in the future. Archer Aviation, the company hopes to produce its craft in 2024. They say the first aircraft should be built by the fourth quarter of 2023 before beginning to work with the FAA on the certification of the craft.
